2006 August July June May April March

29th April

  • Routing the PCB, slowly but surely. Still picking up some errors in the schematic now and then, but the number seems to be decreasing, which is good.
  • Started building the toolchain for Snapper using Crosstool 0.31 (http://kegel.com/crosstool/).
  • Imported some basic stuff into SVN including a directory hierachy etc.

28th April

  • Started working on software a bit. Evaluating IPC using UDB broadcast vs. TCP multicast, use of threading.
  • Installed SVN (version management tool like CVS) and ViewCVS.
  • Laying out the PCB.

25th April

  • Some more PCB work - progressing quite well.
  • Came across some very useful information at the Portland State Aerospace Society: http://psas.pdx.edu/

21st April

  • More PCB work. We now know basically where to put everything, so we started again with a fresh layout.
  • Fixed a major error (all the Snapper pins were numbered wrong). The rate of finding major mistakes is slowing which I guess means there are fewer and fewer left....

18th April

  • Finished expansion interface and added USB host (master) port.
  • Started temporary PCB layout to decide where to put everything (its a tight fit!).

9th April

  • Analog Devices order arrived. We now have ~90% of the parts.

7th April

  • Specified and drew schematics for the Expansion interface.
  • Digikey order arrived.
  • More playing with the electric plane; starting to be able to actually fly it without crashing straight away :-).

5th April

  • Played with the foam electric plane. Learned to fly a bit.

4th April

  • Borrowed a foam electric plane from Brad (thanks!) to learn to fly with.
  • Started hacking together the interprocess communication Protocol (also used to talk to the Groundstation).
  • Placed the Digikey order for parts. Should arrive next week.

3rd April

  • Filled out all the discrete parts' numbers on the schematic.
  • Checked the schematic top to bottom again. (Of course there are probably still problems...)

1st April

  • Placed the analog devices order for the accelerometers, gyro's and the ADCs for the pressure sensors.
  • Filled out the passives for most of the system (i.e. chose part numbers, etc).
